What is Instant funding?

Updated 2026-10-26

Short answer

Instant funding gives you a funded account at once, with no evaluation to pass, in exchange for a higher fee.

Instant funding is a plan type where you skip the evaluation and trade a funded account from day one. There is no profit target to hit and no minimum trading days to complete before the account counts as funded. You pay for that shortcut: instant plans cost more than challenge plans of the same size.

The price gap is large. Among the $100,000 plans the firms we track list, the median full price for instant plans is $999, against $549 for one-step and two-step plans. The higher fee reflects the missing proof: the firm has seen no trading from you yet, so it prices in the risk.

This model suits traders who are confident in their method and want to start earning a split at once, rather than spending weeks proving it. It does not suit traders who need the evaluation to learn the firm's rules, because the funded rules apply immediately and a breach ends the account.

The common trap is reading 'instant' as 'no rules'. Loss limits, payout waits, and minimum payouts all still apply, and some instant plans pay the first payout later than challenge plans do. Compare the fee, the split, and the first payout wait before choosing instant over a challenge. Prop trading can cost you every fee you pay.

Example

Worked example: you buy a $100,000 instant plan for $999 instead of a $549 two-step challenge. You trade funded from day one on an 80% split and make $2,000 in your first month, so your share is $1,600. You saved the evaluation weeks, but you paid $450 more for the account, and a breach in week one would end it just the same.
