How do payouts compare?

TPT's PRO account is built for instant access: withdraw from day one, above the buffer, with no minimum number of profitable days, no maximum amount and no payout windows. The buffer equals the account's maximum drawdown amount. TPT says withdrawals typically arrive within one business day. The split is 80/20, rising to 90/10 on the live PRO+ account, which also drops the buffer.

Topstep's Express Funded Account (XFA) pays 90% with a $125 minimum. The Standard path needs 5 winning days of $150 or more and caps requests at 50% of the balance ($2,000 on a 50K, $5,000 on a 150K). Live Funded payouts are uncapped, and 30 winning days unlock daily access to 100% of profits.

Which rules catch traders out?

TPT's test requires 3 minimum trading days and a best day below 50% of total profit. The bigger trap comes later: the funded PRO account switches from the test's end-of-day drawdown to an intraday trailing drawdown that follows your peak balance, including unrealized gains. PRO also adds a news rule (flat one minute before, during and after prohibited events) and a buffer you must leave in the account.

At Topstep, the 55% best-day rule raises your profit target if one day does too much of the work, and the funded loss limit locks at $0 once the balance reaches $2,000 of profit (50K) or after your first payout, whichever comes first.

How do the funded accounts differ?

TPT's PRO account is simulated, with an intraday trailing drawdown, a buffer and a one-time $130 fee. PRO+ is a live brokerage account through Tradovate with end-of-day drawdown, no buffer and a 90/10 split.

Topstep's XFA is simulated, starts at $0, applies a scaling plan, and keeps the end-of-day trailing loss limit from the Combine. The Live Funded Account is a separate stage with a mandatory daily loss limit and uncapped payouts; Topstep's risk team decides call-ups at its discretion.

Frequently asked questions

Which firm pays out first?

Take Profit Trader: from day one of the PRO account, any profit above the buffer, with no minimum days. Topstep's Standard path needs 5 winning days of $150 or more first. TPT says withdrawals typically land within one business day.

Do the drawdown rules change after funding?

At TPT, yes: the test uses an end-of-day trailing drawdown, but PRO accounts trail intraday on peak balance, including unrealized gains. Topstep keeps its end-of-day trailing Maximum Loss Limit through the Express Funded Account.

What consistency rules apply?

TPT applies them only in the test: 3 minimum trading days and a best day below 50% of total profit. Topstep uses a 55% best-day rule in the Combine; the funded Standard path has none, and the Consistency path uses 40%.

Which is cheaper to try?

Topstep's 50K Combine is $49/month on the Standard path plus a $149 activation fee if you pass. TPT's 50K test is $170/month with a one-time $130 PRO fee when funded.
